Why am I receiving a fine?

You are responsible for and will pay all costs arising from:

  • Congestion charges (or failure to pay them)
  • Parking charges (or failure to pay them)
  • Penalty charge notices (or failure to pay them)
  • Tolls
  • Crossing fees (or failure to pay them)

You are responsible for and will pay all costs arising from a breach of any parking restrictions or a road traffic offence (such as speeding offences) and any other offence or infringement involving the vehicle such as (but not limited to):

  • Lane Infringement Prohibited Turning Bus Lanes Box Junctions

This includes costs from the vehicle being clamped, seized or towed away and any other charges/costs (or failure to pay them) levied by a relevant organisation or issuing authority.

Each time we deal with such correspondence we will charge your credit/debit card for our administration fee (please visit our UK Terms and Conditions for more details) which covers the reasonable costs we incur in administering the correspondence associated with each fine, charge or penalty that is issued for the vehicle during your hire period.

The administration fee will be cancelled or refunded if you can provide supporting evidence to show that the issuing authority or organisation has rescinded the fine or penalty, excluding Dart Charge.

If Dart Charge agree to cancel the fine or penalty, the administration fee can only be cancelled or refunded if the original crossing charge does not stand. Please note, we may not always be able to transfer liability and may have no other option but to settle on the renter’s behalf. In some instances, in settling the request from the organisation, the notice cannot be appealed.

We will endeavour to transfer liability where the authority will allow us to do so.
